Caroline had her 2 month check up today. She is weighing in at 11 lbs and 7 oz and is 23 inches long. She has figured out how to roll on to her back, she sits in her Bumbo chair at the table during dinner, she LOVES to go on walks with her Nanny Alyssa and at night relax with dad while watching The Office.
Last weekend we took a trip to the Como Zoo with our good friends Marty and Leah. Of course Caroline slept most of the time but given she loves being outside and we are tired of the same old scenery on our neighborhood walk we thought a change was required. She did manage to stay awake to see a number of the animals and especially during our walk through the conservatory. We want to give a special thanks to Marty and Leah. They were so patient with us during one of our first big outings and me constantly asking everyone to repeat themselves as I couldn’t hear due to an ear infection. The Como Zoo is a free zoo that runs off of donations and tons of volunteers. It had some wonderful animals including Polar Bears which was a first for Nate and Marty. We were able to start a wonderful tradition of a post card and book as a souvenir for Caroline. Some pics of our trip are below.

Since the last post we took our first road trip to visit our family in Iowa. Caroline got to meet her great-grandparents, aunt and uncle, cousins, and some of her East Village admirers. We have some of the pics from her visit with the family and will add more once everyone emails us the ones they have. Caroline has a new plaque in her room that reads “My prince did come…his name is daddy” and daddy has a new fame with Caroline’s photo and hand print in honor of Father’s Day. We went on our first date since Caroline was born, Cirque Du Soliel’s Alegria and to dinner…it was a wonderful date! One of my favorites from the pics below is the one of Nate and Caroline working on the computer. She loves to watch daddy write code. Of course there will be more to follow.
Caroline loves to sit in her swing and watch Barney…well fall asleep to Barney but don’t dare turn it off cause she will wake right up. Seeing as she thinks it is necessary to be WIDE awake and ready for attention during our dinner time her spot at the dinner table is in her Boppy. Lastly, there are some pictures of her cuddling with her biggest fans, HER MOMMY AND DADDY!
Caroline has had a busy few weeks. She likes walks around the neighborhood, playing on her tummy mat and sitting in her bouncer but sleeping and eating are her REAL passion! She can sleep through almost anything. The past few weeks we went to a graduation party, grocery shopping, and bowling with not one peep at any of them until feeding time. Our little princess did have to be switched to soy formula and it seems to be going well. She is gaining weight and so much so the doctor jokingly asked what I was feeding her…but all joking aside she is doing wonderful. There are some pics below.

Well so much has happened since week 27. My family and friends threw us 2 wonderful baby showers. We worked on getting our lives and our house setup for our new arrival right up to the day. Caroline finally decided to arrive at 5:20pm on 5/21/2010 after putting me through 28 hours of labor. All well worth it though! Nathan was such wonderful support through everything. All the grandparents were able to make it and experience the joy from start to finish. My sister and nieces even made the drive last min which we are so thankful for. Caroline had numerous visitors and continues to capture everyone’s attention. Caroline Kay Rogerson, born 5/20/2010 at 6lbs 15oz and 19.25 inches long with a full head of hair and a big appetite! Tonight we were playing around with the Fetal Doppler heart monitor. We hooked it up to the computer to record Caroline’s heart beat. She was moving and grooving. She also likes to kick the monitor. This recording has a good heart beat but you may want to turn down your speaker volume cause when she kicks it can sound a little like a screech but that is how you know she is kicking.

I know it has been a while since our last update but between getting ready to go out of town, scheduling everything, work and life in general things have been good but busy. Caroline and I passed our glucose test with flying colors last week, we have a class and walk through at the hospital this weekend and and we are excited to visit Houston. My recent baby bump pic is below for all of you curious about my new size which I am still getting used to.
