A lot has been going on since the start of fall. In preparation for Caroline’s first Halloween we went to the Dehn’s Pumpkin Patch to get the perfect pumpkin or pumpkins.  Around 125 lbs later and after Caroline’s stare down with the corn it was time to take home our trophies.  We spent 1/3 of this last Sunday carving away and the results are not bad for a first timer.  Given the weather change there have also been a few “keep the couch company” days where Nathan and Caroline spent a some of the day playing video games.  She really is a daddy’s girl and loves to do everything he is doing.  Tummy time has become quite an event as she can reach for her toys and then throw them “to” you.  She also has a new obsession with her tongue.  She sticks it out all the time and has to lick everything.  Sometimes she just twists and curls it or licks the air for fun.  We have her Halloween costume ready to go and for all you wanting to know what it is…sorry, it is a surprise!  Lastly, this has been a busy month at daycare as well.  We have had Farmer Day and the colors this month are orange and black, there will be pumpkin painting, park trips and I am sure I am missing something else without the calendar in front of me.  But needless to say even though we are crazy busy our family is happy and doing well.  Enjoy the photos!

What a cute find!

It can be read as a regular book with a story on one side and fun facts on the other or you can open it up as you see in the pics and it is an underwater view.  In one of the pics Caroline is also laying on the sea adventure tummy mat we got her a while back.  She loves water and fish so much we didn’t want her to miss out during the long cold winter so we just had to get it!  But don’t worry, we have an aquarium visit planned for during the winter so she experience the real life adventure as well.

We have some pics from our second trip to the MN Como Zoo which grandma and grandpa joined us for.  Grandpa got Caroline a red plastic seal souvenir just like one he had gotten as a child.  There is one of Caroline playing with the her Leap Frog and bath rattle from Granny Sheena.  As you can see she has the rattle confused with a lollipop and boy does she love it.  Her pink Adidas suit is an ode to Nanny Alyssa who will be very proud to know Caroline LOVES to watch sports with her daddy.  Last but certainly not least is the one of Caroline, Daddy, Faith and Annabelle all watching the Miss Universe Pageant.  Thanks Donald Trump for figuring out that with flashing lights and barely there outfits you can capture the other 2/3 of the population.

For daddy and grandma’s birthday we decided to go to the Des Moines Blank Park Zoo.  Although it was hot (see Caroline’s impromptu hat in the pics below) we had a wonderful time.  Caroline LOVED the aquarium and was mesmerized on the train.  We were shocked she did not nap, get hungry or cry through the entire zoo.  Thank you carrier!  Even after we stopped to eat and cool down she stayed awake through the last 15 – 20 min of the zoo and promptly fell asleep in the car.  Once we got back to the house we took a dip in the hot tub (heat turned off of course) where she played with her toy fish she got from the zoo.  A few pics are below of our fantastic weekend!

Caroline had her 2 month check up today.  She is weighing in at 11 lbs and 7 oz and is 23 inches long.  She has figured out how to roll on to her back, she sits in her Bumbo chair at the table during dinner, she LOVES to go on walks with her Nanny Alyssa and at night relax with dad while watching The Office.

Last weekend we took a trip to the Como Zoo with our good friends Marty and Leah.  Of course Caroline slept most of the time but given she loves being outside and we are tired of the same old scenery on our neighborhood walk we thought a change was required.  She did manage to stay awake to see a number of the animals and especially during our walk through the conservatory.  We want to give a special thanks to Marty and Leah.  They were so patient with us during one of our first big outings and me constantly asking everyone to repeat themselves as I couldn’t hear due to an ear infection.  The Como Zoo is a free zoo that runs off of donations and tons of volunteers.  It had some wonderful animals including Polar Bears which was a first for Nate and Marty.  We were able to start a wonderful tradition of a post card and book as a souvenir for Caroline.  Some pics of our trip are below.

Since the last post we took our first road trip to visit our family in Iowa. Caroline got to meet her great-grandparents, aunt and uncle, cousins, and some of her East Village admirers. We have some of the pics from her visit with the family and will add more once everyone emails us the ones they have.  Caroline has a new plaque in her room that reads “My prince did come…his name is daddy” and daddy has a new fame with Caroline’s photo and hand print in honor of Father’s Day.  We went on our first date since Caroline was born, Cirque Du Soliel’s Alegria and to dinner…it was a wonderful date!  One of my favorites from the pics below is the one of Nate and Caroline working on the computer.  She loves to watch daddy write code.  Of course there will be more to follow.
